The Crazy vehicle Team Building event.
By: Linda Baumgartner (Intern at Dreams & Adventures).
After a one and a half hours from our wharehouse to the town of El Munt de Castellterçol, the Dreams & Adventures team finally arrived to the venue called Cal Bernades.
We were pleasantly surprised as this mansion was located up high in the mountains, surrounded by a stunning view of the nature. We were lucky with the sunny and warm weather, the perfect conditions for our outdoor teambuilding activity, namely the Crazy Vehicle event!
It started off with a briefing filled with icebreakers for the idea of getting to know each other, getting to know the facilitators, as well as getting to know the purpose of the event itself. As the atmosphere brightened up, together with a small group of 15 workers from the company “Celsa”, the aim was to build a unique and original vehicle with their own bear hands.
Fictional 1,500 euros was given to them in the beginning of the event, which was to be used in a shop that was constructed by our event management team, filled with a list of materials such as steel poles, cardboard, paper, tires as well as additional car accessories such as mirrors, tail lights and a steering wheel. Team work, decision making and budgeting was critical at this stage, as they had to choose the materials that were really necessary for building their vehicle.
The activity consisted of four main phases; in the first phase the team gathered together in a circle to discuss and sketch the design on paper, including all the measurements necessary to create a moving vehicle. In the second phase, they were able to explore all the materials that were available at the fictional store, so that they could make decisions on what material would be essential to complete their design. In the third phase, the real fun yet challenging task was underway, and the team began with building and assembling their crazy vehicle.
As this phase progresses, you can observe how the individuals working within the group have their own responsibilities and how they begin to take roles, for instance one may have taken the role of a leader and the other as a budget planner. This is essential to perform well and to achieve the team’s goal.
Finally, in the last phase, the finished vehicle was ready to be showcased to the audience to admire the final result.
The day was ended with a barbeque filled with typical Catalan cuisine, including various types of meat and vegetables. A great day was now behind us, and the happy smiles seen on their faces is what makes Dreams & Adventures continue to do what we love to do![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
