What scenario was found NOW + when you started working with Womenalia?
Pilar Roch (P.R.): When we began to collaborate with Ahora Más RRHH in the areas of Human Resources, Womenalia was facing great growth and development at a national and international level.
This led us to experience a rapid increase in structure and with very different profiles.
And what was the need?
P.R .: The high demand for quality of services and economic objectives to achieve made it vital to achieve the cohesion of the different teams of the company. We decided to start with the Business Development team because of its importance to achieving the established development plans, at the pace demanded by a technological start-up as we are and in a market in constant evolution that demands of people the capacity for change and rapid adaptation. We needed to become a High-Performance Team.
Javier Rubio (JR): What is important is that this work with the Business Development team is part of a Human Resources Development plan that Womenalia understands is fundamental to develop with all the departments that make up the company, gradually extending to the rest of equipment and new additions.
What steps must be followed to create a high-performance team?
J.R .: It is a process that we started with the identification of the individual profiles of each of the people who work in the team. We identify their dreams, ambitions, challenges, and areas of development and see to what extent they are aligned with the company’s strategy and what it can offer them so that they feel integrated and develop professionally. It is essential that they know and understand each other as people, know what their partner likes, how they can help them, what they need. In this type of High-Performance teams individual success cannot prevail over the success of the team and that is only achieved when you are able to fully understand the people with whom you work.
P.R .: Particularly, what has struck me most is that it is about going beyond your own job description. We advance as a team in the sense that we are going to support each other, taking advantage of individual characteristics and strengths to achieve a powerful team.
What is the secret to uniting a team?
J.R .: The secret is available to everyone. The key is to realize that you work with people. Give visibility to their strengths and show them how it is possible that cooperating the team is more than the individual sum of its components and the results much more satisfactory.
So what work methodology do they follow?
J.R .: First, we analyze the competency profiles of the people and the team with an online questionnaire; and we configure the way in which we are going to develop the face-to-face sessions, focusing on what this team needs, at this moment, in this company and with these objectives. It is a work that is done ad-hoc for each team with which we work. Afterward, short sessions are developed, 4 hours, in-person to practice in a safe environment the behaviors that will be reproduced in the work environment. Finally, we establish objectives linked to the concepts that have been worked on in that session and establish a supervised Action Plan during its development and that has Learning Pills for its support. The results are reviewed in the following face-to-face session. In this way we give practicality and continuity to everything worked in the sessions.
They are developing a training system that is based on collaborative learning. What advantages does this methodology offer?
J.R .: One of the keys is that everyone contributes their experiences and solutions to face the team’s challenges and this helps to learn from the experience of others. It is easier to move forward if you see things through the eyes of everyone.
What is your TRANS-FORM-ACTION?
J.R .: Fundamentally in the optimization of resources. New technologies allow information to reach people quickly. We select the relevant information for what each team has to develop and we send it beforehand in the form of videos, case analysis, readings, etc., adapting the same to the team with which we work. The presence in the room with a facilitator is reduced to sessions of 4 hours, which is the moment in which the facilitator really has to provide added value. We have eliminated the “dead times” and we have achieved that the teams do not leave their jobs during full days, which means greater efficiency for Womenalia. Finally, the use of Collaborative Learning and that the actions reviewed in the sessions are put into operation and have support when they find problems makes the implementation is tremendously powerful.
What feedback have you received from the students?
P.R .: They are very motivated; they notice the real interest in supporting their development and perceive it as a help, not as a burden. In Womenalia we seek a transparent approach to our people and that we care about each other
